Axle & Coupler.
Presently, rubber torsion axles, supplied by Burquip, are used. The GVM of these various models range from 1800-2300kg. The coupler is the latest technology from Europe. Mechanical breaking system is installed on the axle and is adequate for the purpose, for all trailers less than 3500 kg. Gross weight is within the S.A.B.S standards and requirements.
MATERIALS.
Structure - 6082 T6. It is the strongest tempered alloy and T6 denotes that it is solution heat-treated, quenched and artificially aged to achieve the highest strength. 6082 Aluminum alloys contain aluminum, manganese, magnesium and silicon. T6 alloys are used on aircraft as well.
Side Panels – 3003 H12. 1.473 mm Tread bright plates are used. H designates work-hardened, non-heated treatable alloys. The H is followed by two or more digits, the first between 1 and 4 relating tothe process use, the second even numbers between 2 and 8, showing the degree of work-hardening. These plates are used because of their noise-dampening effect under vibration.
Floor – 5052 H22. 4.5 mm thick plate is used for the floor and the ramp to prevent it from being bent by the horses’ weight. Modumatic Matting covers the floor and is divided into 4 sections for ease of handling and cleanings.
